Google Business Home Beta: New Gemini Dashboard for Local

Google's new Business Home dashboard brings your profile, Merchant Center, YouTube and Ads together with Gemini AI suggestions for local business management.

By admin 6 min read

Google quietly rolled out a new dashboard called Business Home in late October 2026, and it could change how local businesses manage their online presence. The company describes it as a “growth partner built with Gemini models” that brings your Business Profile, Merchant Center, YouTube, and Ads accounts into one place.

It is still a closed beta, open only to select business categories in the US and UK. But the direction is clear: Google is putting AI in charge of local business management, and the businesses that prepare now will benefit when it rolls out more broadly.

Here is what Business Home does, what else changed, and what you should do about it.

What Google Business Home Does

Today, managing a local business on Google means jumping between separate tools with separate logins. Your Business Profile lives in one place, Merchant Center in another, YouTube in a third, and Google Ads in a fourth. For a small shop that sells online, runs a few ads, and posts the occasional video, that is a lot of tabs.

Business Home puts them on one screen. Screenshots shared by Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable, as reported by SERP Mentor show sections for Home, Creative Lab, Posts, Reviews, Performance, Locations, Settings, Brand Kit, and Tools.

Google lists three things you can do there today: create, publish, and track content performance in one place; manage multiple locations; and get personalized advice for your business goals. The help document also describes “next-best-step” suggestions across connected services. Google’s own example: spotting a real-time surge in demand and helping you publish a seasonal offer on social media.

If this sounds familiar, it should. Google once had a full Google My Business dashboard, then moved profile management into Search and Maps. Business Home brings a dedicated portal back, with AI built in.

Three Other Business Profile Changes

Business Home was not the only change. Between October 20 and 28, 2026, Google rolled out or tested four updates in total:

New Performance Reports

On October 23, SEOs shared screenshots of a rebuilt performance section. The current report shows basic totals: views, searches, calls, direction requests, website clicks. The test version splits things into sections including Overview, Engagement, Reviews, Audience, and Search trends. Search trends is the one to watch. Seeing which searches bring people to your profile, and how that changes week to week, is the closest thing local businesses get to keyword data from Google.

Government ID Verification

On October 20, Google was spotted testing a new verification method: uploading a photo of a government ID. It sits alongside phone, email, live video, and postcard verification. This fits a pattern of tighter checks. Google was also reported asking some businesses for their EIN during verification in late October. The goal is fewer fake listings, which is good news for real businesses.

Third-Party Ordering Controls

On October 28, Google gave restaurants direct control over which third-party ordering services appear on their profiles. Until now, removing a delivery app meant asking that provider. Now restaurants can turn off a specific provider themselves and choose whether it shows for pickup, delivery, or both. This matters for margins: every order through a delivery app costs commission.

Will This Change Local Rankings?

None of these changes is a ranking update. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance, and prominence. A new dashboard does not change that formula.

But each change touches something that feeds rankings. Business Home makes posting easier, and fresh posts keep a profile active. Better reports help you act on reviews, which are a big part of prominence. Tighter verification removes fake competitors that crowd the map pack with keyword-stuffed names. Ordering controls protect conversions once someone finds you.

The combined effect is indirect but real. Easier publishing means more activity. More activity means more engagement. More engagement feeds prominence. If you want a deeper look at how local SEO works, check our SEO services.

What Indian Businesses Should Do Now

Business Home is US and UK only for now. But Google typically rolls features to India within months. Here is what to do before that happens:

  • Check who owns your profile. Beta invites and verification requests go to the owner account’s email. Make sure that inbox is one somebody actually reads.
  • Link your other Google accounts. If you use Merchant Center, YouTube, or Google Ads, connect them to the same Google account. Business Home is built around those links.
  • Keep your details consistent. With ID and EIN checks rising, your business name, address, and phone number should match your official records exactly.
  • Post regularly. Google moved Posts higher on the local panel this autumn, and Business Home puts content creation front and center. Fresh posts give it something to show.
  • Restaurants: review your ordering list. Turn off any delivery provider you no longer work with, and set pickup and delivery preferences.

A Word on Scams

Whenever Google introduces new verification methods, scammers follow. Google will only ask for ID inside your Business Profile, never through a link in an email or text. If a message asks you to verify your listing by uploading ID somewhere, ignore it and sign in to your profile directly.

The Bottom Line

Google is pulling its business tools together and putting Gemini in the middle. Business Home is still a small beta, but the direction is clear: one dashboard, AI suggestions, and tighter checks on who runs a listing. Get your profile ownership, linked accounts, and details in order now, and you will be ready when the invite arrives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Google Business Home?

Google Business Home is a new dashboard currently in closed beta that brings together your Business Profile, Merchant Center, YouTube, and Ads accounts in one place. It uses Gemini AI to provide personalized suggestions and “next-best-step” recommendations for your business.

Is Google Business Home available in India?

Not yet. It is currently a closed beta open only to select business categories in the US and UK. Google has not announced when it will expand to India, but based on typical rollout patterns, it could be within 6 to 12 months.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for Business Home?

Yes. Make sure your Business Profile owner email is active, link your Merchant Center, YouTube, and Google Ads to the same Google account, keep your business details consistent with official records, and start posting regularly if you are not already.

Will Google Business Home affect my local rankings?

Not directly. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance, and prominence, and a new dashboard does not change that. But Business Home makes it easier to post content, respond to reviews, and manage your profile, all of which feed into prominence over time.

How do I get invited to the Business Home beta?

You cannot request access directly. Google is inviting businesses by email, sent to the account that owns the Business Profile. Make sure your owner email is one you check regularly, and ensure your profile is verified and up to date.
