Google started rolling out Gemini’s Business Profile tools to Workspace accounts in early November 2026, and if you manage a business profile, this is one of those quiet updates that actually changes your daily workflow. Instead of jumping between Google Business Profile Manager and Google Maps, you can now use Gemini inside Workspace to draft posts, respond to messages, and update profile information.
Alongside this, Google Maps moved the Message button right next to Call for profiles that have chat enabled, making it easier for customers to reach you. Here is what changed, what is still rolling out, and what it means for your local SEO.
What Gemini Business Profile Tools Actually Do
According to Search Engine Journal’s report on November 6, 2026, the tools let Gemini read your Business Profile data and help you act on it. That includes drafting Google Posts, suggesting responses to customer messages, and generating profile updates based on what Google knows about your business.
Think of it as an assistant that already has access to your business hours, services, photos and reviews. Instead of typing a post from scratch, you can ask Gemini to draft one based on your recent reviews or upcoming hours. You still approve everything before it goes live.
The tools were previously available to some Business Profile users outside Workspace. The November rollout extends them to Workspace accounts, which is where most small and mid-size businesses in India manage their email, calendar and documents.
The Maps Message Button Move
Google also moved the Message button in Maps so it sits right next to the Call button on profiles that have messaging enabled. Previously, the message option was harder to find, buried in a menu. This is a small UI change with a real impact: if customers can see the Message button without tapping through a menu, more of them will use it.
Google’s help page no longer lists region limits for the Message button, which suggests it is rolling out more broadly. If you have not turned on messaging in your Business Profile, this is a good time to do it. The feature is free, and messages through Google can feed into your response time metrics, which indirectly signals profile activity to Google’s local ranking system.
Why This Matters for Local SEO in India
For businesses in Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and across India, two things make this update relevant.
First, Google Business Profile is the single most important local SEO asset you have. It feeds Google Maps results, the local pack in Search, and Gemini’s answers when someone asks for a business near them. Anything that makes it easier to keep your profile active, accurate and responsive helps your visibility.
Second, Gemini reads Business Profile data when answering local queries. The Everything Digital analysis from November 3, 2026 confirmed that Google Business Profile and reviews are the sources Gemini uses for local recommendations, unlike ChatGPT and Perplexity which do not read Google Maps. When Gemini can draft better posts and respond to messages faster, your profile becomes richer and more active, which gives Gemini more to work with.

How to Get the Tools If You Are on Workspace
The rollout is gradual, so you may not see the tools yet even if you are on Workspace. Here is what to check:
- Open Gemini in your Workspace account and look for Business Profile in the available extensions or skills.
- Make sure your Business Profile is verified and linked to the same Google account as your Workspace.
- Check your Maps listing to see if the Message button is now visible next to Call.
- If messaging is not enabled, turn it on in Business Profile settings under Messaging.
If you do not see the tools yet, wait a few days. Google’s gradual rollouts typically reach all accounts within two to three weeks of the initial announcement.
What We Would Do With This This Week
If you manage your own profile, here is a quick checklist:
- Enable messaging if it is off. The button is now more visible, so you want it active.
- Set up auto-responses for after hours so customers get an immediate reply even when you are closed.
- When Gemini tools appear, use them to draft posts. Review the draft, make it sound like your business, and publish.
- Keep responding to reviews manually. Gemini does not write review responses yet in this rollout, and authentic replies still matter more than AI-generated ones.
- Update your hours for any upcoming holidays. Gemini can help draft a holiday post once your profile data is connected.
What About ChatGPT and Perplexity?
One thing to keep in mind: these Gemini tools only help with Google’s ecosystem. ChatGPT and Perplexity do not read Google Maps or Google Business Profiles when recommending businesses. The Nimza research across 603 cities found Gemini is the only engine that reads Google’s local data directly. ChatGPT pulls from Bing’s index and Yelp. Perplexity takes a majority vote across directory sites. Claude reads Brave’s index.
This means your Google Business Profile optimization helps you on Google Search, Google Maps and Gemini, but it does nothing for ChatGPT or Perplexity visibility. For those engines, you need listings on the directories they actually cite: Yelp, industry-specific directories, and review platforms that rank organically for your keyword.
The businesses that do well across all AI engines are the ones that maintain a strong Google Business Profile AND appear in the directories the other engines read. It is not either-or. It is both, with Google Business Profile as the foundation since it serves three channels at once.
What Has Not Changed
Gemini tools do not replace the fundamentals. Your profile still needs accurate categories, a complete service list, good photos, and a steady stream of reviews. What the tools do is make it faster to keep your profile active once the basics are in place.
Google’s Optimixed changelog, updated November 6, lists this as a rolling-out change, meaning it is live for some accounts and expanding. The dietary attribute tags from October, the WhatsApp button in local panels, and the repositioned Google Posts section are all still active too.
